While at first glance it might seem a trifle calculating to repackage the scores from some of the classic Frankenstein films and give Rob Zombie prominent billing as a way to draw people in, the first three words of the title Rob Zombie Presents Frankenstein are actually pretty accurate because his fingerprints are all over the final results. These aren't the complete scores to the movies Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, and Son of Frankenstein but rather a collection of passages selected by Rob Zombie accompanied by snippets of dialogue from the films (also selected by Rob Zombie). Throw in liner notes written by Rob Zombie, and you have a package seemingly designed to draw in younger listeners (i.e., people who know something about Rob Zombie) -- but it seems a bit odd to think that those are the people who constitute the main audience for parts of the soundtrack music from those films. In reality, it's not a bad package for older fans of the movies, featuring production photos from all of the movies represented here; plus, Zombie does actually do a good job of picking the most interesting (or campy) portions of the scores. It just seems that, on a collection of Frankenstein film music, that Frankenstein ought to get top billing. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide
