A nice exposition of work on the djembe of West Africa. Adama Drame was born in Burkina Faso and lives in the Ivory Coast, and he here attempts to showcase some of the rhythms from the area and from the Malinke people. The unaccompanied djembe prevails in most tracks, though small bits of accompaniment are present in the album from supporting percussionists and vocalists. For the most part, it seems to be a release primarily for consumption in the West, though the music is still noteworthy despite such possibilities. For anyone interested in a good album of djembe work, this is surely a worthwhile choice.
